Here’s a quick review of Culture night in Naas, there was so much on that it was impossible to do or see everything on offer, so I picked the portrait artist of Kildare competition as i’m a big fan of the programme on the telly, and I didn’t realise that a friend of mine was competing, so happy days! It was brilliant, 3 hours to paint a surprise guest sitter. Pressure!
I also went along to Sallins to check out the music on the barge at the canal, I couldnt stay long but I saw the Kill Singers doing their thing and loved singing along to all the tunes ( yes, i do secretly want to join a choir… ) it was a really nice setup down there and a great turnout too.
More than 350,000 people in towns and cities across Ireland went out to have fun and enjoy Culture night. In Naas alone there was dancing and sean nós in Alices Cafe, a bus tour of public art, bird walk by the canal, art exhibitions and talks, a bat walk in Sallins, Nas na Rí singers in the church, music and poetry on the main street….. endless things to do!!
